It's possibly the oddest film I have ever seen... and I have seen some movies that are a bit ridiculous. I guess the way you view this movie will decide whether or not you like it. The acting is excellent. The cinematography absolutely beautiful. The lead is captivating... he's a creeper, but at the same time you pity him.
I haven't read the book, but I guess it stayed very true to it.

I didn't really enjoy the ending, but I didn't hate it either. It was just weird. You think a film is odd to start with and by the end you're just kind of like.... uh......? I mean I expected to be out of the norm, considering the story is about a man who kills women in order to preserve their scent.

If you like odd movies that you think about later on. Watch it. If you hate movies that make you a bit uncomfortable, skip this film.
Also, lots and lots of nudity.

I guess it's a film that shocks you. Later after it settles in you can think about what it's all about.
As with many movies, it is about love.

I have finally watched Amelie. I loved it. It was a unique film (which I always appreciate) and it was quirky and sweet. It's one of those movies you smile pretty much the entire time and as silly as you might feel, you can't wipe the grin off your face.

I'm really glad I finally saw this film. Audrey Tautou is great. I love her little grin/smirk.
Absolutely loved it and I even added it to my favorite films. <3

The more foreign cinema I see, the more I fall in love with it.

I didn't see the original musical, which I think in this case is a good thing after hearing how different they are. Although, I did read that Sondheim did like the movie.
I myself have always loved Tim Burton Johnny Depp Collaborations, and this was no different. I was also impressed by the leads' singing and to no surprise excellent acting. I'm not sure how much digital editing was done on their voices, but I read they went through extensive training.

Some may complain that the blood looks unrealistic. This is because they used paint, which is what was used in the original, so really it is just a nod to the original musical. I think this movie goes to show what revenge does to a person and how it can completely destroy a person. (Kind of like Oldboy in that sense.)

Although the entire movie is a dreary setting and plot, there are bit of humor thrown in here and there.
Over all an all star cast and a great musical. Some didn't like the fact that there are so many famous actors & actresses distracts from the movie, but for me, it didn't. I was pleased with who they chose for each role and believe each one was extremely convincing and makes you completely forget who he or she really is. That in my opinion is what makes a great actor/actress.

*EDIT*
I watched some of the stage show on youtube, and I don't undertand why people are so extensively putting the two up against each other for which was better.
They are completely different things. Broadway VS. a cinematic musical, so each should be appreciated for the genre they are. Broadway is always more over the top. Also live performances are more difficult, obviously.

Will start with 3 movie reviews. They are all older, but I enjoyed all three.
I'll go in the order I watched them.

1. Primal Fear (1996) United States

It's no secret I am a big Ed Norton fan and this was his debut film, so I decided I should probably see it.
I wasn't disappointed. Great storyline and plot along with a strong cast. Richard Gere is the big shot lawyer
out to seek as much publicity as possible, so when alter boy, Edward Norton is charged with murdering
is Arch Bishop, of course Vail (Gere) has to get in on this case.
The story continues and it is left to the viewer to decide whether Aaron (Norton) is guilty or not.
Loved the ending. Amazing acting from Norton. The only thing I did not like about this movie
is the music. Too 1950's detective for me. Thanks goodness for this film XD
A great psychological thriller.

2. Snow Cake (2006) Britain

This is the story of a man (Alan Rickman as Alex) who has suffered more tragedy than most. He is a quiet, sullen, and tends to push people away. After a car accident- he ends up meeting Sigourney Weaver's character, Linda. She has autism, but is a highly functioning adult. The story continues and shows the friendship between the two characters. I enjoyed this film. It was heartwarming and funny. Linda's bluntness, especially keeps a smile on your face. I think Rickman and Weaver did excellent jobs in this movie. One of my favorite lines that brought a smile to my face was this:
Linda: Don't try to touch me. I have a gun. I'll shoot you.
This is a feel good movie, but it's also realistic. It isn't sugarcoated.

3. I'm a Cyborg, but that's Okay. (Saibogujiman kwenchana) (2006) South Korea

The title is enough to make a person be interested.
I have read a lot of people's reviews saying they hated it because it's not Chan Wook Park's style (He directed oldboy- the vengeance trilogy.) There are still scenes where it is evident it his style.
I myself, found nothing wrong with this movie, in fact I enjoyed it. it's mood throughout reminds me of "Eternal sunshine of the Spotless Mind." The story is about a girl who believes she is a cyborg- she believes this because of her childhood, so she is put in an institution. There she meets Rain's character- who thinks he can steal people's abilities. , among other things; and you see how their relationship develops. For me, this movie was about accepting people for their flaws and oddness. If you sit and think about it for awhile, you can relate to the characters. Their flaws and insecurities. Searching for the meaning of your existence and finally finding it. Go into this movie with an open mind and you will enjoy it. Both main characters did a great job. Rain is adorable and Lim gives a strong performance. Enjoying the protagonists of this film is easy. If you don't understand it the first time, watch it again =] Also, there are some absolutely beautiful scenes and this movie will have you smiling the entire time.
Deeper than a romantic comedy.
